As a neighbor and a concerned citizen, your community houses many diverse locally-owned and independent businesses. These small business owners are our friends and neighbors. When you shop locally you invest in your own neighborhood and community. In fact, for every $100 you spend at a local business, $68 of it stays in our community, in comparison to $43 when buying from non-local businesses [1]. In addition to the economical benefits that come from shopping locally, you help create stable jobs with competitive wages. Shopping locally helps to reduce your carbon-footprint by cutting down on transportation costs and energy usage associated with larger corporate chain stores. Most importantly, shopping locally increases your good karma, so more good things happen to you.
