In early 2011 Denise's Ice cream closed its doors for business and a "For Lease" sign was hung in the window. After months of watching people walk by the empty store front the Saha's were approached by their current landlord to open a new shop and bring life back into the space. Anand viewed the store in March of 2011 and immediately decided an ice cream franchise might be his best bet. However, while speaking to business representative and friend, Ed Hilbert, he learned just how easy it would be to produce his own ice cream with the equipment in the old ice cream shop. After consulting with his wife Doris and pastry Chef Lynn, Anand realized that several of his employees had been trained to make ice cream in Europe and it was a unanimous decision to open The Vienna Ice Cafe.
